Training, Practice,
and Clinical Leadership

Dr. Gabriel Urrea Botero is a physician specialized in wound care and venous disease management, with training in both Colombia and the United States. After completing his initial medical training in Colombia, he continued his postgraduate education in Houston, Texas, and later advanced his academic and clinical development through Baylor College of Medicine.

He completed formal training in Family Medicine and Geriatrics, and subsequently pursued focused fellowship training in Wound Care at Baylor College of Medicine. This dual foundation — complex chronic disease management and advanced wound healing — shaped a practical, evidence-based approach that integrates clinical rigor with real-world outcomes.

In practice, Dr. Urrea Botero leads and supervises a high-volume wound care program and multidisciplinary team, combining in-clinic wound management with home health coordination. His clinical work includes advanced wound procedures, skin surgery, diabetic foot care, compression therapy, and the evaluation and treatment of venous insufficiency, including venous ablation and sclerotherapy.

Beyond patient care, he is an educator and author focused on translating complex wound science into usable bedside frameworks.

His ongoing work includes developing practical protocols, publishing clinical innovations, and building resources for clinicians and patients through writing, teaching, and digital tools.
